Sustainability
Service and quality while respecting the environment
The Hotel Royal Santina is a 4-star hotel in the centre of Rome committed to implementing numerous green and environmentally friendly initiatives to offer its guests an eco-friendly stay in the heart of the Eternal City!
Stay for the Planet
The Best Western Premier Hotel Royal Santina joins the Stay For The Planet project, launched by BWH Hotels Italy and Malta in collaboration with LifeGate for responsible hospitality.
Stay for the Planet is a programme recognised by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), the organisation that sets and guides standards for sustainable development in travel and tourism globally.
The initiative is part of a strategy aimed at reducing the impact of the hotel sector through the promotion of a series of virtuous behaviours and the implementation of a system to monitor and improve the environmental and social performance of the hotels participating in the programme. Stay For The Planet represents an important management and measurement tool to support the hotel chain on its path towards an increasingly responsible hospitality model. The programme is based on a sustainability rating drawn up by the LifeGate scientific committee which, through the assignment of a score from 1 to 5 expressed in leaves, reflects the environmental and social performance of the hotels in the following impact areas
Energy
Sources and consumption of electricity and heating, energy efficiency of the building and equipment.
Water
drinking water consumption (catering, rooms, services...) and water saving.
Waste
Waste production and types, waste disposal management and prevention actions.
PURCHASES
Procurement of raw materials, service materials and durable goods with less environmental impact.
BEHAVIOUR
Logistics organisation of suppliers, management of staff and customer mobility, guest awareness and linkage to sustainable initiatives in the area.
PEOPLE
Dedicated to virtuous practices implemented in hotels with respect to issues of staff development, accessibility and inclusiveness.
CHow we support the environment
Getting actively involved in the theme of sustainability and respect for the environment through the defence of animal species that risk disappearing in the coming years. This is the choice of the Roscioli family, a landmark in hospitality for over 90 years, which has adopted Kala, the little Sumatran tiger born in December 2023 in Rome’s Bioparco.
